Saturday was another sweet community day. Thanks to Wendy Brouwer and her faithful crew, 32 children will be going to school for another year in our sister school in Sierra Leone. It is so good to see a community come together to pull off this event again, donate goods, buy them or get rid of the leftovers at the end of the day. Such a great spirit there. On Saturday evening we were able to spend an hour with friends whose son has just graduated from a university engineering program before heading into Vancouver where our son was playing with his band.
Pentecost Sunday morning got the birthday celebration ( the churches Birthday and mine) started with the faith community we hold so dear and from there into a wonderful afternoon and evening our sons had organized to transition Jenny and me into the third third of our lives. So sweet! Good food, music, conversation, dancing, laughing, remembering and just being together.
As we pick up the bits and pieces this morning in the gifted rain, I cannot begin to say how full our hearts are with all this goodness of our shared life together. Dietrich Bonhoeffer says, “Christian community is like the Christian's sanctification. It is a gift of God which we cannot claim…. The more thankfully we daily receive what is given to us, the more surely and steadily will fellowship increase and grow from day to day as God pleases.” May it be so.
Thank you Deb for the photo.
