Seems irreverent or even makes us a bit uncomfortable. However if …”all things are through him and for him.”
Milking Prayer
Bless, O God, my little cow,
Bless, O God, my desire;
Bless Thou my partnership
And the milking of my hands, O God.
Bless, O God, each teat,
Bless, O God, each finger;
Bless Thou each drop
That goes into my pitcher, O God!
This morning I was doing the very ordinary task of scraping the manure out of the barn and wheeling it out to my little pile. A very ordinary task and yet much more. A great deal of manure ends up on the pasture, but the stuff that ends up on the barn floor gets scooped out every couple of weeks and then it sits on the pile, the temperature rising to steaming goodness and the worms doing their good work and once it is well composted it finds its way onto the garden where it helps create even more goodness.
