For about 7 days of Spring Break Jenny and I looked at rocks, photographed rocks, walked on rocks, between them, over them, under them, drove through them and were amazed at them. We did a little circle tour of some of the most amazing US National and State Parks: Valley of Fire, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Kodachrome, Monuments and the Grand Canyon. Every turn in the road is a display of sediment layering, glacial melting, shifting tectonic plates, wind and water erosion carving gorges more than two kilometres deep into solid rock. It overwhelms the heart and mind with echoes of Psalm 90: “Before the mountains were born, before You gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, You are God.” There are those who suggest that such an old creation diminishes the Creator. For me it was the exact opposite. It is jaw-droppingly awesome to consider who I am in the face of such a time span, a speck of stardust on the outer rim of the Milky Way, to beloved child of such a God. What can be more amazing than that? There are no words.
