We listened again to Shauna Niequist about the angel visitation to Mary called Let It Be It captures the simplicity of it all, if only we have eyes to see it. She quotes Eugene Peterson, “To eyes that see, every bush is a burning bush.” So true. We can, like Mary, say everyday, in myriad ways, “Let it be…”
Last night and this Christmas morning have been a rare gift in a strange sort of way and a very different Christmas for us after years of being around a lot of family. It was a Zoom gift opening that turned out to be rather delightful, a walk in the snow to neighbors to make some small deliveries, an online service with our new church friends at Good Shepherd NYC , a frosty walk in Bethlehem, I mean Fort Langley, and listening to Dylan Thomas read A Child’s Christmas in Wales. This morning walking to the manger, I mean barn, to feed the animals and then over to the neighbors to feed their goats, listening to some good music and enjoying telephone and other greetings. In many ways this is the picture of our ordinary good life.
