In the last few days there have been some interesting things written about how various countries and their systems of government have responded to the Covid 19 virus outbreak. It seems that Taiwan, whose outbreak started at the same time as Canada, with about 2/3 of the population, has done very well in stemming the tide, and we who have a liberal democracy are not quite as prepared to receive the governments decrees and limitations. There is a price for everything.
There is a slight irony in the photograph since the boat lies on the shores of a country that is struggling to be a democracy. Let it be said that the people of Sierra Leone deserve a good democracy and are making steady progress toward that big word. There are many hurdles to overcome before the people of that sweet country get to enjoy its resources and the kind of life and livelihood that it could provide.
