I for one am very happy that the Liberals were elected. Maybe a Liberal or NDP government would have been good, but let’s give Justin Trudeau an opportunity to lead. He’s young and bright, he seems to be very concerned about better creation care, he seems to want to move forward the plight of First Nations People in Canada, he wants to have women equally represented in key leadership roles, he seems to have reduced the Bilingual divide, he seems keen to move us back toward a world peacekeeping role and he seems interested in reforming the electoral system toward more representative government. Now is the time to be hopeful.
We have been led to believe that it is going to have a negative impact on our personal economies. I’m not convinced this is true but if it is better for the marginalized and poor then so be it. We need to hold Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party to an Isaiah vision of governance:
A king and his leaders
will rule with justice.
They will be a place of safety
from stormy winds,
a stream in the desert,
and a rock that gives shade
from the heat of the sun. Isaiah 32:1-2
And we need to stay involved and informed now that the election is over. I think I will send that to his office right now before he appoints his cabinet.
