Taylor, in this video conversation makes a challenging proposition, but one, that for me, finally made some sense. She says that “Christianity puts pain centrally in the middle of itself. We often encounter those who do a lot of spiritual bypassing; bypassing pain. Pain is a normal and inevitable part of our life. Covering it is like choosing anesthesia. And we do that. But If I will trust that what comes to me is for me...this is a huge faith statement...but what if I learn to trust that what comes is for me and not against me. Which it is, or can be, depending on my ability to breathe and let it in. I find that it breaks my idols, it breaks my isolation, it challenges my sense of independence, and it does all kinds of things for me that I would not willingly do that are for me, for my health.”
I have had to sit with that for a long time…”Can I trust that what comes to me is for me and not against me?”
